Welcome to my practice. The decision to begin therapy signals your willingness to make a change.

My personal style is down to earth, honest, creative and compassionate. I value authenticity in our work together and offer an appreciation for your spirituality. Therapy with me is a relaxed, safe environment where you can address your concerns and struggles. We work collaboratively in a meaning centered way in order to help you explore the obstacles that keep you from feeling more engaged, connected, curious and content. You will gain a stronger connection to yourself, a greater sense of aliveness and well being, increased creativity and discover what it means to live authentically.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety or depression, are dissatisfied with your relationships, feeling groundless due to life transitions such as divorce or re-location, grief and loss or are just sick and tired of feeling less than, I will assist you in making the desired changes.

My approach is contemplative with emphasis on immediate experience. What beliefs are keeping you stuck? What narratives are limiting you? Is resistance playing a part in your experience? We get curious about the self as opposed to judgmental and work toward bringing you closer to your own natural wisdom.

  • ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS - I received my  BA in Theater Arts and  began my professional career in theater, film and television. I spent many years as an actress, writer and producer and continue to pursue creative outlets. My creativity informs my therapy practice today and  I am well versed in the issues that arise specific to those committed to an artistic lifestyle.

  • ANXIETY - Anxiety is often anticipatory in nature or present when we are not living in alignment with our values. We may spend time exploring limiting beliefs and narratives that prevent one from perceiving life as it is and defining values.

  • DEPRESSION - I approach depression holistically. That is to say, I take the whole person into consideration not only the bio-chemical aspects but taking into account the environment, relationships, cultural issues, beliefs and personal goals of the client.

  • RELATIONSHIPS/COUPLES - I enjoy helping individuals and couples find ways to move beyond outmoded strategies for getting needs met in relationships and finding clear and compassionate communication that ends cycles of blame, criticism and guesswork.

  • CANCER PATIENTS AND FAMILY/CAREGIVERS - My work with cancer patients and care givers has given me experience and insight into the questions and feelings surrounding end of life issues, crisis of meaning and the more general anxieties we face as human beings as we learn to live with loss or change.

  • PARENTING CHALLENGING CHILDREN/TEENS WHO ABUSE SUBSTANCES -  I have a background in non-violent communication and I am a strong believer in non-punitive, non-adversarial approaches to parenting challenging children who may struggle with social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Additionally, I work with the  parents of teens who are abusing substances and help them to not only define and hold boundaries but to stay  in relationship with their adolescent through connection.

  • LIFE TRANSITIONS/ADJUSTMENT - Adjustment is a broad descriptor. I think of it in terms of adjusting to the impermanence of life and the often abrupt change that occurs due to divorce, re-location or grief and loss.  Feelings of groundlessness can cause fear, anxiety, sadness and emptiness. I work with moving toward the experience as opposed to creating resistance and building tolerance for discomfort.

  • MINDFUL AWARENESS/SECULAR BUDDHISMI have over ten years of experience in secular Buddhist meditation and training in contemplative practices that improve emotional regulation, reactivity and promote prosocial behavior.

  •   WOMEN'S ISSUESI appreciate working with the unique challenges women face during mid-life and issues of aging along with managing and finding balance between career, parenting and relationships. I use contemplative guidelines to help women transcend deeply held beliefs and learn to access their natural wisdom and desires.

  • ADDICTION/SUBSTANCE ABUSE - Using a non-judgmental and collaborative approach with clients enables them to work with their ambivalence toward any unwanted or problematic behaviors associated with substance abuse.
